MSNBC Slammed by Media Execs

Posted on Oct 28, 2008

Whipping boy: Keith Olbermann didn’t have a lot of fans among Monday’s Beverly Hills lunch crowd.

There wasn’t a whole lot of love in the room for cable news channel MSNBC during a luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday for television executives and actors from both ends of the political spectrum.

The Hollywood Reporter:

The cable news channel is “completely out of control,” said writer-producer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, a self-proclaimed liberal Democrat.

She added that she would prefer a lunch date with right-leaning Fox News star Sean Hannity over left-leaning MSNBC star Keith Olbermann.

Olbermann was criticized by many who attended Monday’s luncheon sponsored by the Caucus for Producers, Writers & Directors at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event was dubbed “Hollywood, America and Election ‘08.”

Bloodworth-Thomason and others seemed especially critical of the way MSNBC—and other media—has attacked Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin while demeaning her supporters.

“We should stop the demonizing,” she said, adding that Democrats have been worse than Republicans as far as personal attacks on candidates are concerned. “It diminishes us,” she said of her fellow Democrats.

Keith Olbermann & Rachel Maddow have exposed the Republican aka American Fascist Party for its lies and hypocrisy.  Now these billionaire blue bloods, who have controlled the scope of discourse for the past twenty years, ensuring that it is only the propaganda of the ruling class that is heard over the public airwaves, see that they are losing control.  That’s their real complaint.

What MSNBC needs to do, however, is to add one more program during a one hour time slot during which it runs no commercials—Amy Goodman, Democracy Now!

re: Cyrena

The fact that Senator Obama is aware of something like net neutrality, just about says it all when comes to explaining what a modern candidate should be about. John McCain’s ignorance towards computers may be comforting to those who share his ignorance (the late great, Studs Terkel said that when it came to Google, the only one he knew was Barney, with the goo-goo-googley eyes) but this does nothing to address the need for advanced communication.

I love Olbermann. Him, Rachel Maddow and Stephen Colbert keep me from wanting to go on a crazed shooting rampage because they remind me that intelligence still exists in the political realm and that men/women of intellect can still battle it out against the self-righteous and unreasonable with facts, a calm demeanor and biting wit.

The right and not!Democrats shouldn’t carp about left-wing attacks on the right since attacking is all the right knows how to do. People like Olbermann just do it better, and unlike certain McCain aides/FOX anchors, people like Olbermann don’t flap their gums meaninglessly just for the sake of drowning the other person out. Every other word that comes out of McCain/Palin’s mouth is “Obama.” “And Obama said…” “And Obama did…” “And the Democrats…” Where are the facts? Where is the proof? Where is the logic?

Unconstructive, flailing drivel. That’s IT. The modern-day American Conservative Right is an embarrassment to politicians everywhere. That FOX is even considered a news channel makes me ill.

That is somehow socially acceptable?

Seriously - on one side you have Sean Hannity, a man that give voice to racists, homophobes and anti-semites allowing them to vent their vitriol unchallenged, regardless of how factually untrue the statements are.

On the other you have Keith Olbermann, someone that has a show where Republicans will no longer go, *because* when they verifiably lie, it will not go unchallenged.

(Aided by a knack I’m jealous of, somehow being able to actually pull the data up that disproves what was said, which I don’t see on a lot of shows. He doesn’t merely ‘call them on it’, cut their mike, or raise his voice - he simply proves that what they said was not and could not be the case.

I’m jealous as hell of this ability of his - a lot of times I can tell that what they said can’t be right, but *proving* it to myself requires I dig through the web for an unimpeachable source. Olbermann seems to have translated a knack for memorizing the batting averages of the 1954 Yankees into a knack for remembering the title and source of that “GAO report that proves where the tax cuts actually went” (or whatever) that he pins to the conversation like a footnote - you look it up and he’s *right*.

I am *so* jealous of that ability.)

So, one wonders what the priorities are of someone that would rather have lunch with a man that yells at his guests when they prove him wrong and gives a forum for people to lie to his audience unchallenged than with a man that gives guests that disagree with him their say, and if the facts don’t support the viewpoint he calmly brings them into the conversation.

You’re right on this..

•  “..One thing concerning Obama that is rarely brought up, is his belief in net neutrality, which also probably explains why the head of Google supports his candidacy..”

It is rarely brought up, like so many other things. YET, *THIS* is the stuff politics is about. These are the issues that are (or at least SHOULD be) the things that are CRITICAL to a collective electorate!!
For all of the many reasons you’ve cited, (and more) the issue of the Internet and the need to keep it neutral and FREE, is overwhelmingly critical. It’s our communications system, and NO society can operate democratically/openly without an effective communications system. Needless-to-say I suppose, that is no more critical than ever in the 21st Century. And, at the base level, Obama is a 21st Century leader/politician.

That’s not to say that the communications’ component of life on earth hasn’t always been critical, and there have been earlier methods utilized. I’m sure the Natives did fine with their Smoke Signals back in the day, and I’m sure they still do. The underground media has often been around in some form or fashion, and critical historical movements depended on them for operation. A connected point came up in a discussion here at home last night, while we were looking at photos of the past 7 years to make a few posters for the upcoming birthday party. One was taken at Galveston, TX on the beach there, of Galveston Bay. That brought up, (by me) a piece of history associated with the Galveston Bay, when the slaves of Texas were notified of the Emancipation Proclamation, which came 2 years, 6 months, and 18 days *after* The Emancipation Proclamation of Jan 1, 1863. (the notification that is). The story is at the link here, for anyone interested.

But, I only said that to say how important communication is, and how huge that makes this issue of net neutrality to ALL of us. FAR more important, (to the populace) than what individuals’ decide for themselves –in private- on issues like the termination of pregnancies. Yet that issue receives this overwhelming focus, while something as critical as access to information and technology is allowed to be manipulated (if we don’t pay attention) behind the scenes – perpetrated by the same corptocracy that has already done so much damage in the past 8 years.

So yes, net neutrality (I’m not sure that term covers the entire sphere of what’s involved, but it’ll have to work) is a huge thing. It means taking the good/benefit with the resulting, (by nature of what it is) counter-part, because it can be used to promote negative propaganda as well. But, that’s the price to have it available. That contradiction ‘should’ assist in the development of a more critically thinking population.

Yes, I know it could take a while, and I know we’ll never wipe out ALL ignorance. Still, this is the only way. We can’t go backwards. We MUST go forward. That’s what progressives do.

re: Cyrena

You are correct about the news distortion. As for Tom Delay? well there are some things that crawl on the ground so long that even Thomas Edison can’t figure them out.
One thing concerning Obama that is rarely brought up, is his belief in net neutrality, which also probably explains why the head of Google supports his candidacy. Both he and Biden have mentioned a broadband build-out, which makes me wonder whether heavily devalued optical companies may not in the not so distant future come back into vogue.
Broadband, especially from the inclusive business model of Google (the more eyes on the internet, the better) also has, as you probably know, revealed the deficiencies of traditional news in a glaring way. This explains why so many distortions, no longer have legs, as it use to be said, except with those who blindly accept whatever television throws at them.
Does anybody remember the howl that went out when Google bought Youtube for a billion dollars? Now that money seems well spent, at least in the political arena.
The limitations of the internet (wikipedia, etc.) have been pointed out very often. But when it comes to matters of governance, and the official record, where else can you find what the elected actually said? The often made remark about Senator Obama’s empty rhetoric, does not hold water, if you actually read what he actually said.

The comment about Tom Delay being on Hardball is well taken. Why did they choose to have that disgraced, anti-labor, money sucking tool on at all, is completely beyond me.

Me too beerdoctor. I don’t know why they would have allowed that F*@!%& on Hardball. I remember when the late Tim Russert had him on. I never watched Meet the Press again after that. And, I know I haven’t missed anything. Whatever the MSM has to say, that I would actually wanna know, is presented elsewhere, and in the format that provides all the facts, and none of the subjective hyperbole and innuendo that completely distorts reality.

I’m in full agreement with samosamo or whoever else it was who said that MSM entities like Fox with Hannity, and Limbaugh, and O’Reilly, and all of the others, are downright DANGEROUS. They are as dangerous as their counterparts in other era’s of societies destroyed by authoritarianism or totalitarian regimes. They ALWAYS have these powerful propaganda ministries or agencies. People like Hitler, (though he was certainly not the only one) used these propaganda machines brilliantly. Other governments and societies have become destabilized through the very same tactics. Fox and Friends (along with some others) have been at it for years now, as the official Propaganda Ministry for the Dick Bush Thuggery.

Meantime, the actual truth tellers always come under attack for telling the truth. In such a developing totalitarian structure, one would come to expect that. It is clearly CONTRADICTORY to the hidden agenda, for ANY of ‘us’ to be informed or otherwise knowledgable about ‘the TRUTH’!!

That means the people who get it out are the patriots. And, they’re the ones taking all of this heat. That’s what’s so ass-backward about this. True Americans are getting the shaft from the anti-American imposters who overthrew our government in that Coup of 8 years ago.

Looks like I got off track from the Tom Delay thing, but it’s a good example of how much BS propaganda they can push off on folks who don’t understand how manipulative the propaganda is.

What I find the most amusing - this Linda is so stupid she doesn’t even know she is being used by those who despise her.  WHY do these self proclaimed ‘everyman’s’ get press, anyway?  WHO is she, another Joe the plumber looking for a record deal?

Interestingly, Phil Donahue was one of the first real truth tellers (with the exception of Bill Maher) to get sacked for fear of MSNBC appearing too far to the left.  He DID question the war.  MSNBC is not much more of a friend of the news than other channels but 100% better than Fox.  We that watch Chris Mathews, Mr. Olbermann and Rachal Maddox do so to gleem information that is otherwise hidden behind the Rovian Politics on most ALL channels…compliments of talking points.  When was the last time any one of us got our daily news without reading print media or tuning into PBS??  Mathews, Olbermann and Maddox find ways to tie daily events into the political discourse. They are willing to ask tough questions and call people on the constant misinformation we are bombarded with hourly.
Rachal Maddox is a true Scholar and shows it.  The quality of hers, Chris’s and Keith’s guests represent what will become a new day in America.  Fox has people like this Linda Bloodworth-Thomason and Sarah Palin.  They love to hate.  Sad.

***Linda’s name Bloodworth-Thomason (English maybe) doesn’t sound American - should I be the first to question her loyalty to America and her credentials as a citizen?  Hurry quick - “Bloodworth” sounds like a hidden buzz word to unleash a last minute ‘terrorist’ scare designed as a real game changer before the election!  A vote McCain end all if you will.  Beware of Fox and friends!
I JOKE!  (just a bit of the hair of the dog she apparently finds ok as she has aligned herself with the likes of Rove) but seriously folks, Fox news and friends are NO joke and have done as much damage to this country as has ever been done by a bought and paid for ‘news’ media outlet.
SHAME on all American’s for falling into camps simply because they believe what their parents believed in or refuse to see how the last 30 years have robbed us of our dignity and identity.  We need to STAND UP, vote for change and decide what we want to be when we grow up!

I wrote this to Huffington Post this morning, because I am tired of the bashing Olbermann and to a lesser extent Rachel Maddow are getting from the MSM.

I remember a story referring to the the black theologian Howard Thurman. Years ago, his daughters were not allowed to play in a Florida playground because of their color. The way he explained this problem to his girls was to tell them were so powerful that the weight of whole government of Florida was there to keep them out of this one little playground.

Guess what, Keith and Rachel, welcome to Florida. Between, Linda Bloodworth-Thomason (who would rather have lunch with Hannity) and the other journalists, you are two incredible powerful personages who control the destinies of us all.

When was the last time Keith Olbermann was cited for incorrect information, misleading information, or flat out lying to his audience, by the fact checkers or Media Matters? But then again his name is not Sean Hannity, Bill O"Reilly or Glenn Beck. Have we heard an outcry about their lies and distortions, or their flat out racism? I don’t think so, but two people between 8 and 10 each week day are going to bring down modern day journalism as we know it.

Well I’ve got a flash for you folks in the MSM, I hope like hell they do!!!

Sarah Palin is getting rheemed not for being a female, but for being a female George W. Bush, the most UNPOPULAR president in American history. The world that still speaks its mind (not the faux news hacks that speak the corporate mind) are tired of having a leader that can’t put two coherent sentences together; that sees the well-educated as elitest (because they failed so miserably in school); that uses strict adherance to market and religious dogma as a blanket of patriotism. These qualities have been rejected by the majority of Americans, you betcha, and Sarah Palin epitomizes them.

Bush’s dwindling base and Hillary’s psychotic holdouts are the only people not treating her like the pariah she really is. Don’t blame us for treating her like deserves. We didn’t nominate her.

In this age of the internet and especially U-tube and videos; the sexism rant against Palin holds no merit. If anything one has to only examine Republican rants (Limbaugh for one) to determine which side gravitates inherently into sexism; just the mere pick of Palin begs the question.
Insofar as the question of demeaning Sarah Palin. When in the history of any American campaign have we given a pass to a candidate that not only refuses to have reporters interview her; but, doesn’t even participate in the tradition of news shows. This woman was not only given a pass, the press didn’t even seriously question this method of presenting a campaign. Is this now to become acceptable for male candidates as well? The press not only gave this lying woman a pass on the conviction of an ethics violation; they didn’t pursue questioning her denial (lying) about it.
MSNBC has been front and center in the presentation of facts; which is more than I can say about “Bloodworth-Thomason and others”.
I am not alone in our gratefulness to MSNBC, in particular for the Olbermann and Maddows shows. These two reporters are shun by the GOP because they are afraid to be questioned by them. It’s easy for the GOP to get a Hannity (in Palin’s case over and over again) interview; propaganda is not want Americans want to hear. We want to know why the countless “Bloodworth-Thomason and others” didn’t ask the hard questions. Why was such a vile and racist campaign by the McCain camp not questioned for its lies and ridiculousness. Marxist, Communist, Anti-American, unpatriotic, Arab, Muslim,...; the pathetic extent of the media not only not pursuing this line of attack; but, intimidating that the Democrats ran EQUALLY a dirty campaign. THERE IS NO COMPARISON AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC THANKS TO MSNBC AND OTHERS HAS SEEN THROUGH THIS. Ms Bloodworth-Thomason and others can just go jump on the lake of GOP slime that they seem to enjoy. Fear IS commercialism. Nothing sells better than fear. Consider this - the Corporate New Media can choose ONE of these two breaking stories to air:

1. “This just in: Doctors in Africa have now confirmed they found a plant whose leaves contain an HIV-fighting component with the potential of saving thousands, if not millions of lives.”
2. “This afternoon, a lone, suicide terrorist yelling “God is Great” exploded a bomb in a suburban mall near Houston, Texas, killing himself and a shopper.”

Of course, the second story is run although the first one has far, far more long term impact on far, far more lives. That second story is immediate, close to home, dramatic and plays right to our fears. The fear of bombs, terrorists, Al Qaeda, unpatriotic Americans, non God-fearing Americans, people who don’t look or sound like us, Socialists - all will go to the top of the list every time.

Wait a minute, do I have this right, “left-leaning MSNBC star Keith Olbermann”?  Olbermann is one of the few newspeople/commentators with a broad audience who does the homework, cuts through the baloney, accurately describes the sordid way things are, and on occasion gives pointed, well argued commentary when wholly warranted.  If solid, intelligent, accurate reporting is somehow deemed “left-leaning” as opposed to what it is, that is simply telling people the way it really is, then the logical extension of that non sequitur thinking is that “right-leaning” is replete with lies, inaccuracies, posturing, and distortions.  Of course, that happens to be be true, but why bother to explain any of this to media executives, whose cowardice in actually reporting the news and informing people is outstripped only by how much they pat themselves on the back for telling everyone what a “fair and balanced” job they do while surrounding themselves with celebrities?

I believe the best thing that could happen to broadcast media is the reinstatement of the Truth and Fairness Act in Broadcasting. I do not recall the exact title but it means that any talking head would have to have evidence to support their chatter or they could be found guilty and fined or better yet have their stations broadcast license revoked.

Keith Olberman is one of the few media folks I will take the time to listen to. Along with Rachel Maddox, and the folks over at Democracy Now I actually hold out hope that real news might survive and the “Opinionators” of the FAUX News network will become the joke that they are.

The fact is there are very few “REAL” News Reporters anymore and way to many Opinionators in broadcast media.

Self-proclaimed self-hater Linda Bloodworth-Thomason would obviously have refrained from making such noises if her pal Hillary Clinton had been the Democratic nominee. You’re exactly right about the false parity the media gives us.  I’ll steal (and mangle) an old Krugman line: “Bush Says Up is Down; Key Democrats Disagree.”  And why not?  The Crossfire format sells (even if it’s namesake doesn’t anymore).

But I think it’s more than just crass commercialism that drives this phenomenon.  It’s also fear.  Movement conservatism in America has spent the last couple decades demonstrating just how effectively the gratuitous and persistent charge of “liberal bias” can be used to cow the Fourth Estate into submission, to reshape intellectual reality to suit their wont.

That this charge still appears to have some lingering traction among the has-beens and never-weres hanging around the Beverly Hills Hotel doesn’t scare me much.  To the fatuous few who still see parroting this fiction as a mark of their sobriety and fairness: enjoy yourself.  It’s later than you think.

Behind those commercials are thousands engaged in analyzing market share, demographics, viewers’ purchasing trends, advertising rates, etc. etc. Ultimately, it’s about commerce - not news.
2. Balance? I get such a kick out of this effort to provide everyone an audience in order to ensure “balance.” Imagine this was 1941. Would we have been all over the press and radio insisting we provide equal time to pro-Nazis viewpoints? In 1943 were we insisting the media consider Japan’s position? I realize this is an extreme analogy but it should make us consider this: Corporate News Media will give audience to extreme viewpoints not to provide balance (much less knowlege), but to provide shoot ‘em up entertainment that can boost their ratings, therefore increase their ad revenues. Just a thought. I think that had the Corporate News Media performed as responsible journalists rather than “info-tainment” whores, we would never have allowed this insane war in Iraq.
3. Nate518; I disagree with your thoughts on Keith, but I support your comments. Well said.

Lez-see here, hmm, note to self:
1. Find searchable bible on web
2. Search “liberal”
3. Note many positive occurances and meaning thereof
4. Search “conservative”  ... hmmm ... zip
5. OK try, “pharisee”  ...Ah!  That’s what I thought: The bible is a commy tract!!!!
“Love thy neighbor!”  Doesn’t that sound “socialist?”

You see, this “R” party got took over by Rich Reptiles who are all for “wealth Redistribution” as long as it goes Upward to them and never downward to the poor, the sick, the homeless or any of that rabble Jesus hung out with before his name got coopted by the Roman Empire.  Real Republicans and Christians of all denominations are leaving in droves to find a new philosophy that actually HAS some true values.  Many are voting “D” this year.

God bless our newly emerging liberal and progressive America and all the good she can do for humanity.

Oh please, what is it with this faux extreme-ism!  Too much, was it too much when they blasted Hilary for her make-up and clothes - and she paid for them with her own money!  Was it too much when the McCain/Palin ticket were continuing to make much ado about Obama’s so called ties to the “terrorist” Bill Ayers?, or stoking the fears that Sen. Obama is secretly a “Muslim”? I think not!  For all of the dirty things that were done during these last 20 months not just to Sen. Obama, but to Sen. Clinton, or John Edwards, Mitt Romney or others that these people now want to cry fowl - is pure B—S—!

While Sarah Palin may be good enough to become the Govornor of Alaska, I think that this country over the last 8 years especially has had enough of incompetent, intellectually deficient, partisan politics!  What this nation needs now, when there are so many issues that we face, what we really need is someone that has an intellect and can grasp the nuances of the issues, and their complexity!  What we need is someone that understands foreign policy is not just using the military as your own private G.I.Joe force!  What this nation needs is someone that understands the need to break past partisanship politics, and partisanship religious tests to effectively run this nation!  And just maybe change the way the rest of the world sees views this nation!

As a possibile solution to the broadcasts that this attack against Keith Olbermann (and Rachel Maddow)“objectivity” regarding their “biased” dialogue…Let’s all “pick” what the opposite sides in the political spectrum consider the “MOST objectionable”, supporting those respective arguments, and how they are presented, and put those broadcasts side-by-side. We need the FAUX news guys, RUSH, SAVAGE, and the devil himself…Rove to be included. I’d like to include either of the “Tuckers” in this but, it’s not fair to include paid “dupes” in an intelligent discussion.  Although I admit to “applauding” some of the more “biting” broadcasts of both Keith and Rachel, I also must “criticize” the FOX B.S. and how they present their version of a “fair and balanced” discourse. What is that age old saying again?  Oh, yeah, now I remember. “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”. And, “if the kitchen gets too hot…get out”. But don’t complain about bigger, or harder rocks, nor about anyone’s ability to work in a “hot” kitchen.
Have you no sense of dignity/respect? Or are you just a “bought and paid for “whores/stooges” who don’t have a “drop” of care for your fellow Americans and the financial plights and inequities that they are, through NO FAULT of their own, being faced with? Huh? Can you respond intelligently?  Without the incessant diatribe you spew about what “Real America” stands for? You are a bunch of hypocritical a-holes that, if everything continues as it is moving, will be apologizing for your behavior. What you need to focus on, going forward, is how you can reconcile your past behavior(s) to be part of the reconstruction of our Nation. And hope that, WE, will forgive and forget. But, don’t “make book on it”. I wish you nothing but BAD LUCK for the rest of your lives, as I see you very clearly as TRAITORS to our nation!!!

It’s my opinion that Faux Noise is simply a propaganda station.  Goebbels would have been proud to work there.

I think Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow do a marvelous job of exposing Republican shananigans, including the Faux bias.

Bring it on, Keith and Rachel!

Keith Olberman is almost the only voice confronting the venom, hate-mongering, flagrant lies and
distortions coming out from and McCain/Palin campaign and the large army of pundits who support it. Compare what Olberman is saying to the nonsense coming out from Palin, O’Reilly, Hanity, Rush Limbaugh ete..etc etc…......!!!

Disclaimer:  I do not like Olberman. He is a Limosine progressive like most Democrats and I voted for Cynthia McKenny.

Well hears a lil’ secret for them..We know EXACTLY who you are. Your Party was taken over by Religious Zealots so you slitered your way in the back door of the Demcoratic party via the DLC ‘Third Wavers’
Obvious Linda missed the significance of Teddys Head Hunting at the Convention…Did she miss the Guantlet flying past the Clinotns Heads. Did she miss the ‘Torch’ burning their Eyebrows as it passed right over the top of them.
As mush as the Republican party needs to kick the Religious right out of their party, so does We Democrats who have let you LOSERS control our paltform for so long. Let’s face it NO DLC’e has been able to Seal the Deal with the Dem Base since Clinton’s cluster of a sex scandal. He was already slipping in support iwth ‘Don’t ask Don’t tell’,Then proceded to put a damn fork in his legacy with NAFTA!
Let’s get something Straight, the ‘Third Wave ’ has Crashed on the shore, the next wave is rolling in. You can either Go with it and Ride it in, or Drown beneath it’s enormity. There never Was any such thing as a Reagan Demcorat in th e’80’s…they are either disaffected Republicans or remnents of the DixieCrats, which we evicted in the ‘60’s.Real Dems Hated Ronny for Union busting, Ignoring AIDS & inner city Drug violence, Deinstitutionalization, Outrageous Military build up & spending, Deregualtion,Religious intolerance…We not only hated him , We feared his senility would get US all killed. And we knew him for what he was…. A Puppet. Hindsight indicates the first in a line of puppets for the same group of criminals (Cheney,Rummy,Wolfie….)
Real Democrats KNOW shit didn’t just start going badly for US in the last 8 yrs, we’ve been screaming about it for nearly 30 yrs!!!
It’s about damn time we get OUR voices heard.
So Keith & Rachel Keep Pissing of the Religious Right , the NeoCONS ( in red & Blue) and those Newbies who think they have got any creditability or influence left with REAL Democrats. You may be the only ones left standing once we clean out the Propaganda Gutter rats Out in all sectors of Media.

Keith Olbermann:Keep Truth-Digging,Baby,Truth-Digging

When FIXED NEWS of Rubert Murdech and his noisy crowd of propagandists, distorters and liars keep slamming Obama and his progressive supporters 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 12 months a year,NONE STOP,I have found it utterly odd and extremely troubling that a SELF-PROCLAIMED LIBERAL,named Linda Bloodworth Thomson,to come up,all of a sudden, with such an unbelievable and unwarranted attack against Keith Olbermann, anchorman of “COUNTDOWN” of
MSNBC cable TV Channel.UNREAL.period.

When the air wave radio talk-shows of a..holes and extreme right-wingers like Rush Limbaugh,Mike Medved,
Michael Savage,Dennis Prager,Dennis Miller,Laura Ingraham, and the rest of their ilk, bombard the public with distortions, propaganda and out right lies against Obama and his progressive supporters, three hours after three hours, after three hours, etc…,for each,24 hours,NONE STOP,five days a week,I have found it utterly odd and extremely troubling that a SELF-PROCLAIMED LIBERAL named Linda Bloodworth Thomson to come up,all of a sudden, with such an unbelievable and unwarranted attack against Keith Olberman, one of the very very few TRUTH-DIGGERS who can attract political junkies like me to watch and listen to his fascinating TRUTH-DIGGING.Just for the records,I am NOT a liberal, not even a Democrat.I am an INDEPENDENT CENTRIST VOTER who yearns for HONEST
reporting of the news and INTELLIGENT analysis of the
political events of the day.For more than five years now,I have found such HONESTY and INTELLIGENCE
in “COUNTDOWN” program, anchored by the fascinating ability of Keith Olbermann of MSNBC cable TV.

Shame on Linda Bloodworth Thomson for failing to realize that a neutralizing factor is badly needed to confront and expose the propaganda, distortions and
lies of FIXED NEWS of Rupert Murdech and his cheap and noisy crowd of liars….I hope that Olbermann will make her just for one night,“The Worst Person In The World”,as he intelligently and humorously does in every program of “COUNTDOWN” he presents to his audience every night, five days a week.I wish it was seven days a week, but I realize he needs rest, like every other hard-working human being in the planet Earth.

It is a BIG BIG MISTAKE,and I must say BLUNDER,to allow the biases and claims of Linda Bloodworth Thomson’s to influence the decision makers of MSNBC
to leach or alter their outstanding programs presented so effectively and convincingly by Keith
Olbermann,Rachel Maddow and Chris Mathews,as well…

I’m no fan of Olbermann.  I think he’s pompous, one-sided, unfair, uninsightful, disingenuous, and that’s just for starters.  He does a disservice to his cause.  But.

To lay the degradation of the national political discourse at the feet of MSNBC can only invite the question: “Where on earth have you been the last 16 years?”

Was it the left-wing bias at MSNBC that got us embroiled in Iraq, or that rolled over for the greatest expansion of executive power in generations, or that paved the way for the stealing of an election by way of massive disenfranchisement, or that gave a megaphone to lurid, cynical distractions like Bill Ayers, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Al Gore inventing the Internet, or Monica Lewinsky?  Was it left-wing bias at MSNBC that invited vicious hacks like Bill O’Reilly, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, or Sean Hannity into the national discourse?

Jesus Christ, enough with the self-flagellation Hollywood libs.  We didn’t start this fire.  MSNBC handing Olbermann and Rachel Maddow two hours of its evening broadcast hardly an “out of control” network makes, at least not if you weren’t born yesterday.  Perspective folks.

Keith Olberman says things that need to be said and says how it should be said. These are very serious days and IF anyone thinks Olberman is out of line, they damn sure haven’t watched fux news much if at all. Fux news spewing rupert murdoch’s poisonous agendas has done more damage to this country than anything olberman could have done in his ‘telling it like it is’. Don’t say nothing, don’t do nothing and the goddamn conservative party will run a mac truck through your life yet when they get called down about it they have to find the cheat sheet to gain the upper hand.
I bet that if msnbc dumped olberman he would get scooped up pretty quick by another channel even being a conservative strong hold. It is only about the money and though olberman’s work can be classified as infotainment he sure speaks to a vast audience that I would never get to speak.

Ever since Newt took over the house the Republicans, in collusion with Fox News, have made an all out effort to demonize everything liberal and/or Democratic.  They were so successful that we liberals started using the word progressive again.

I watch Keith Olbermann almost every night, and I’ve never seen him called out for being untruthful or slanderous - the same can’t be said of O’reilly who is constantly pushing the envelope.

Good for Keith for throwing their spew back in their faces, and shame Linda Bloodworth-Thomason for being the weak-kneed liberal that Fox News has come to thrive out.

Then the moderator, a conservative, calls Palin the ideal Jeffersonian figure!  LOL!  Jefferson is a towering figure in the history of world political thought.  She is most certainly is not and has not shown any signs of developing into that.  She will continue to have a political career but she will be talking to the more radical elements of our society and will not get out of the Republican primary in 2012 if she runs.

The out of control MSNBC?  I daresay that Fox News Channel has more than its share of pundits and anchors that are completely out of control, case in point;
Bill O’Reilly.
He screams and berates any guest on his program, does not fact check his viewpoints and is by far the worst show host on the market, yet Keith Olbermann, is berated for his viewpoints and by staunch “liberal Democratic” Linda Bloodworth-Thomason?
The maxim is “politics makes strange bedfellows,” and this maxim has proven true.
Yet my viewpoint is this, I would rather listen to an intelligent and worthwhile conversation by Keith Olbermann, than the showboating and screaming wrong-headed Bill O’Reilly or for that matter Sean Hannity who cannot keep a straight logic answer in that big head of his.
More to the point, the people at this dinner, slammed MSNBC, for their courage to stand up to the MSM in their choice of hosts and the fact that they are by far the most entertaining of the networks that have hosts in the evening hours.

It will probably take 80 years for future presidents to undo the damage that the present one has caused.  The damage would not have been nearly so great if the main stream media had not failed utterly in its job to ferret out and report the truth.  It could have done so. The information was there.  Due to a cowardice, laziness, greediness, arrogance and/or incompetence (plus outright bias in the case of the Fox Noise channel), the media badly let us down.  In fact, the media deserves to be “impeached” almost as much as Bush does.
