Which is which?: That’s Palin on the left and Fey on the right.

The McCain-Palin campaign team might soon borrow a page from the celebrity crisis management handbook (see Chap. 11: Poke Fun at Yourself on a Late-Night Comedy Show), if the rumor that Sarah Palin is considering an appearance alongside her “Saturday Night Live” doppelgänger Tina Fey comes true before the Nov. 4 election.

Bill Zwecker in the Chicago Sun-Times (via Defamer):

It’s looking more and more likely that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will appear on “Saturday Night Live”—to have some fun with Tina Fey.

As the comedian’s impressions of the GOP vice presidential candidate draw laughs from Republicans and Democrats alike, a top honcho from the John McCain campaign tells me there’s a debate going on about how to respond.

Her going on SNL would give the appearance of good humor and open mindedness.  SNL might not give her overt softballs but they would not set-up an obvious trap for fear of not wanting to be called biased.  They are still an NBC show and want to be seen as willing to poke fun at all candidates.

Pssst Linda . . . Palin told a lie today – about an energy issue of all things:

“At a townhall event in Wisconsin on Thursday, Palin was asked by a concerned questioner whether it was true that the United States was shipping 75 percent of its Alaskan oil overseas.

She responded by proclaiming it impossible, since Congress had put strict bans on the amount of oil and gas that America could export.

Not so. As the Associated Press reported:

. . . Congress has never imposed outright bans on oil exports. Congress prohibited exports of Alaska oil in 1973 when the Alaska oil pipeline was built. But that ban was lifted in 1996 when there were large volumes of Alaska oil coming down from the North Slope and U.S. demand was soft.

The Alaska ban has never been reinstated.”

This news rumor of Palin appearing on SNL has already been discredited and refuted by no less than head writer Seth Meyers himself.  Don’t you suppose it’s time to take the fake news story off the front page?

ALASKA GOVERNOR Palin   RECALL!!!

I am a Alaskan life voting Republican. This 2008 Election, I will [with pleasure]  vote Democrat! This Alaska Governor Palin has Destroyed and continues to attempt to Destroy “MANY GOOD ALASKAN PEOPLE(s)”  Professionally and Politically during her “VERY SHORT” term position as Mayor in a small community Wasilla, Ak (Approx 5,000 + residents during her reign) and current Alaska State Governor.(for approx. twenty months).  Whenever Palin is confronted with a question that she does not know, does not have a clue or simply does not want to answer, her indignation or ...ANGER…is unquestionably familiar!....McCains’’ V.P. selection Sarah Palin unequivocally has NO business being the Alaska Governor, let alone, a USA candidate for Vice President…. Maverick??....

Sarah Palin rejects scientific evidence about global warming but believes in witchcraft. She is an intolerant religious zealot who uses political office to ruin the lives of those who disagree with her. She acts as if she is above the law in refusing to testify in Troopergate. Beyond that, she hasn’t even thought about national and international issues.

But if she bites her tongue for 10 minutes and goes on a TV comedy show, we’re supposed to conclude she can take a joke so she’s alright with me? NO!!!

Yeah, maybe they will go on MTV and tell the audience if they wear bloomers or thongs. It is funny how Sarah has erased Obama, McCain, Hillary, and Britney from the headlines. Maybe she will get her own talk/variety show after the election.

I think it would be great if they had Sarah Palin ‘playing the role’ as Fey did, and then have Tina Fey come out and pretend to be the real Sarah Palin, wanting to take over and ‘set the record straight’.  I don’t see how it could make Palin look any worse, but it would show her to be a good sport at least, and that might score some points.

Either way, unless something BIG happens to favor the GOP between now and Nov 4th, I think McCain is toast.

Tit for tat, no pun intended. Palin had no qualms about setting up “say it isn’t so Joe”; the witty writers of SNL should invite this dimwit on and trap her live into some reality check by not allowing her micromanagement team of GOP men to dictate any conditions. The woman and men of SNL should not give this throwback for woman any standing. Come into the web said the spider; it’s a live show.

It’s a TRAP Sarah! It’s a TRAP!

No matter how much you try to play along, you will only look worse than you already do.

PLEASE GO!
