McCain and Brimley

From oatmeal to politics: Actor and former Quaker Oats spokesman Wilford Brimley comes out in support of Republican presidential candidate John McCain during a campaign stop in New Hampshire last January.

John McCain took the opportunity Tuesday to criticize Barack Obama for consorting with celebrities at a Democratic fund drive in Hollywood that night, but McCain had apparently forgotten about his own celeb-attended fundraiser in Beverly Hills last month, as well as his mini-cadre of celeb friends like Jon Voight, Robert Duvall, Kelsey Grammer and Sylvester Stallone. McCain supporter Wilford Brimley has yet to comment on this grievous oversight.

Los Angeles Times:

As if on cue, John McCain used the Illinois senator’s lucrative detour from battleground states to Beverly Hills to mock Obama’s professed solidarity with working people “just before he flew off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends.”

“Let me tell you, my friends, there’s no place I’d rather be than right here with the working men and women of Ohio,” McCain told cheering supporters in Vienna, Ohio, with running mate Sarah Palin at his side.

McCain, too, raised money in Beverly Hills last month, but with a smaller cluster of stars, including actors Robert Duvall and Jon Voight.

What has happened to John Voight?  He make Conrac, where he played a teacher in a poor, mostly African American school in South Carolina in the 1960s; and Coming Home, where he played a disabled Vietnam vet.  He seems to have lost his way.

Wilford Brimley—isn’t he on the “Pass Go, Collect $200” and the prophetic “Get Out of Jail Free” card in the Monopoly board game? Sheesh!

It wasn’t a fund raiser, they were simply enjoying a bowl of Quaker Oats together…it keeps them regular.

“Celebrities”? As I see it, the “stars” clustered around McCain are mostly has-beens, mighta-beens, coulda-beens, shoulda-beens, never-weres and never-will-bes ...

I believe Wilford is a Type II diabetic.  I don’t know what his out-of-pcoket expenses are, but even with what now passes for good insurance, I know my costs - out-of-pcoket and premiums - have gone up consistently the last eight years.

McCain’s plan of a tax credit and giving everyone their own choice is much like throwing a bucket of minnows into a shark tank.  No protection from the consumer.  And a $5,000 is about half of what a company is charged for a single, unmarried worker.

As Maggie once said to Danny Noonan, “Tanks fer nuttin’!”

Always enjoyed Wilford Bremely glad to see he is still around, guess his vision must be gone to be supporting McCain.  Realize the fact that McCain and Palin are liars and are so good lying , they live in a world of fiction, seem many people like to support not the real thing.
