Streisand to Lend Pipes to Obama’s Cause

Streisand
Keystone / Eddy Risch

Babs for Barack: Streisand will sing for Obama on Sept. 16 in Beverly Hills.

Barack Obama will get the star treatment from Hollywood denizens (or is it the other way around?) once more before the election, at a two-part fundraising extravaganza on Sept. 16. First, Obama will join hosts Steven Spielberg and his DreamWorks co-moguls Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen for an intimate dinner at Beverly Hills’ Greystone Mansion (cost per person: $28,500), and the second will include a performance by songstress Barbra Streisand at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel (a steal at just $2,500!).

Variety’s “Wilshire & Washington” blog:

Streisand endorsed Obama after he secured the nomination in June. She had endorsed Hillary Clinton in the primary, and appeared and spoke at a fund-raiser for her in January. She also sang at a concert for John Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000.

The timing of this Obama visit is giving new meaning to the words, “quick turnaround,” as organizers have just eight days to put the fetes together.

On her Website, Streisand chimed in last week on John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin, writing, “We are not that stupid.”

Three stacks of the high life($30,000) to see the show.  Are these my fellow grass roots voters.  Where is my $30,000.  Oh yeah that’s what I make a year minus taxes.
