What Is a Podcast?

A podcast is not just any old audio file.

A podcast is a series of audio or video broadcasts distributed via a specially encoded feed. It's like cell phone technology -- complicated behind the scenes, but easy for you, the user; your calls get to you where ever you are.

To make a podcast work, you need to use a program that can read the feed, and play back the audio part of podcast. iTunes is the most popular podcast-savvy software.
